Shower remodeling is fun to do, especially if the existing shower is old and funky. Which is to say, the older and funkier the current shower; the more fun you’ll have replacing it with something new.
I found this to be the case in my current house. My wife and I bought a foreclosure property with two bathrooms. In all honesty, we really only needed one bathroom, but the price was good and we knew that a second bathroom would add to the resale value of the property.
However, the way the existing shower had been installed created a big problem. In order to enter or exit the shower; it was necessary to step over the toilet! That wasn’t a big deal to us, as we only need to use the upstairs shower, however, this would need to be fixed if we ever wanted to sell the house.
This shower remodeling project was not the most complicated project however, there were definitely some unique challenges along the way. One of the biggest challenges was to remove the need to step over the toilet to enter the shower. It was necessary to move the shower spout and shower drain to accommodate the new shower.
I am relatively handy but I know my limitations. Clearly this wasn’t a project that I could tackle myself.
I called a few plumbers that had been recommended by friends. Each plumber submitted a quote, taking into account what I wanted to accomplish. My wife and I reviewed the quotes and chose the plumber that we felt would do the best job at the best price.
The job was expertly completed and I now find that the remodeled shower is the one I prefer and use the most.
