Green Mechanical Educational Advisor and UA Local 47’s training instructor, Rich Benkowski, participated in the Native Energy Auditor course at the United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, North Dakota.

This 20 week program is the result of a partnering between the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada and the United Tribes Economic Development Department.

The development of the Energy Auditor Training Program was granted to the United Association of Journeyman and Apprentices (UA). The UA working with their partners at HVAC Excellence, ESCO Institute and the Green Mechanical Council have developed an energy auditor curriculum consisting of 23 individual classes or modules, totaling 800 contact hours.

Graduates of the course will have the title of Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) conferred upon them by the Green Mechanical Council.

Rich provided training in OSHA standards, R410, and Green Awareness to participants who are assembled in Bismarck from across the United States. The students who complete the course will be able to perform diagnostics/evaluations and create fuel efficiency reports for customers.

Rich is also an instructor at the annual UA Instructor Training Program held at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
