The Holidays are here!

‘Tis the season for cooking, which means lots of washing up as well.

As you’re cooking for the ones you love, take care of the environment too by keeping fats, oils and grease out of the drains.

Grease cools and congeals in the sewer pipes and builds up over time like arterial sclerosis. Eventually the pipes are restricted, creating THE CLOG, which then prevents wastewater from flowing away from your home.

When you are entertaining, the last thing you want is a clogged drain! Not to mention the mess and plumber emergency visit costs.
If the clog occurs in the city streets, it can cause the sewer mains to back up and cause sewage overflows. If an overflow reaches the storm drain, a beach closure may result. In fact, grease is the leading cause of sewage overflows in most cities.

Keep your drainage pipes clog-free by following this simple Recipe for Fat-Free Sewers:

1. Identify sources of grease – common sources this time of year are roasted meats, gravy, cookie and pie crust doughs, and cheeses.
2. Scrape grease into a resealable container, such as a bag or can.
3. Place in the garbage. Make sure to use a plastic liner.

If you suffer from THE CLOG, call a reputable plumber. If you clear the line yourself, use a snake instead of toxic and corrosive drain cleaners and root killers.
